The Wild West of Web3 by BorgoAcademy
GM Classmates 🤓!
Education isn't just evolving; it's getting a full-on tech makeover. First up, blockchain. Imagine a college experience where your academic milestones are not just grades on paper but digital assets on a blockchain. You could easily share your achievements with potential employers, and there's zero chance of record manipulation. It's like your educational resume, but bulletproof.
Now, could you imagine the change that will come with the Metaverse/Immersive Experiences/Spatial Computing?
Picture yourself learning art history by walking through a virtual Louvre, or mastering quantum physics in a simulated lab that defies the laws of our physical world. Not to mention AI… It's not just about personalized lesson plans. Think bigger - like AI-driven career advising that analyzes your academic performance and personal interests to suggest the most fulfilling career paths.
The possibilities are endless.
Why are we diving into all this? Because education and Web3 tech are intersecting in ways we can't ignore. And that's exactly what we're covering in today's edition.
Buckle up; it's going to be a hell of a ride!
But first, let me tell you a little secret…
I FUCK*NG HATED SCHOOL!
Listen, school was a nightmare for me. Teachers would look at my parents with that "good luck with this one" expression. But here's the kicker: that same restless spirit that made me a misfit back then is what's fueling my journey in the Web3 world today.
You see, I've been the underdog my entire life.
I didn't fit the mold, and I didn't want to. I was the kid who got bullied for being the "new guy with a funny accent". Teachers couldn't capture my attention, and my grades reflected that. I never felt like I belonged anywhere, and I never found my "place."
I've moved houses more than 35 times in 34 years, especially when I was a kid.
I've had to hustle from job to job just to catch up with everyone else, as I was really behind.
But guess what?
That struggle is now my superpower in this Web3 world.
Fast forward, I launched a Masterclass last year. I gave it my all, creating a "Start here" guide for anyone eager to explore the Web3, Metaverse and NFTs. The community that's formed around it? Absolutely incredible. We've had people from 30+ countries and from the largest companies in the world, from Google all the way to HSBC and Bayer, and the personal growth I've witnessed has been both humbling and inspiring.
And here's the big news: that Masterclass was just Act 1 of BorgoAcademy.
I want to take this mission even further. This isn't just another education company; it's a movement.
We're not just talking about Web3. We are training and inspiring the next gen of leaders, builders and entrepreneurs to thrive in the evolving internet.
So if you've ever felt like an underdog, this is the call you were waiting for.
LET'S SHAKE UP THE SYSTEM TOGETHER!
The Evolution of The Web.
Here are four quick things that have guided me since my challenging school days.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Diego, you just told us you hated school, so what could you possibly have learned?".
Well, let me tell you, I believe that the best lessons in life come from the darkest places. School might've been a battleground for me, but it was also a training ground for the life skills I'd need down the line.
You see, even though the traditional education system and I were like oil and water, I picked up some universal truths along the way. These aren't your typical classroom lessons; they're survival skills (or life hacks, call 'em what you will). And I want to share them with you, not as some guru, but as someone who's been through the worst and come out the other side.
So, if you're feeling a bit lost or just need a new perspective, these might be the signposts you've been looking for:
Question everything: Don't just accept the status quo. Challenge it.
Adapt and overcome: When the system doesn't fit you, build your own reality.
Protect your energy: You are the reflection of the closest people to you, choose wisely, hang out with people that are who you want to be.
Community is gold: Never underestimate the power of a like-minded tribe, you can go faster alone, but you will go further together.
Is a full-time career in Web3 just for techies?
One question that keeps sliding into my DMs is, "Diego, how can I transition my career into Web3 if I don't know a line of code?".
Listen up, I'm living proof you don't need to be a coder to thrive in this space. My jam? Branding and Digital Marketing.
Me trying to code.
Web3 is the Wild West of opportunities where you don't need a tech badge to be a sheriff. Coders and devs, they're the gold miners, no doubt. But hey, even in the Wild West, you needed saloon owners, storytellers, and lawmakers, right? (and JPEG designers… 😅 )
Web3 is a playground where your unique skills can shine, whether you're a wordsmith, a people person, or a business-big-brain-can-sell-anything type of person.
Here's something I want you to reflect on:
“What's exciting about Web3 is the possibilities it's opening up for people living outside major cities. You can make it in fashion without being in Milan, crush it in tech without being in Silicon Valley, and make your mark in art without being in Paris. To me, the real power of Web3 is the power of the decentralization of opportunities.” – Diego Borgo
So you're still wondering how to jump into Web3 without being a coder?
No worries, Mr. Pink Beanie got some ideas for you.
Here's a quick list of roles that don't require you to speak "Solidity" or "Python":
Marketing and Strategy: You're the architect, laying out the blueprint for how a Web3 project gains traction and scales.
Lawyer: You're the rule-maker and the peacekeeper, ensuring that the project operates within the legal frameworks of this new frontier.
Finance: You're the numbers guru, making sure the project is not just innovative but also financially sustainable.
Community manager: You're the vibe curator, the one who sets the tone and keeps the community engaged. It's more than just moderating; it's about creating a culture.
Content creator : If you can tell a story, you can be the voice that guides newcomers into the Web3 space. Your words can be the map that helps others navigate this new world.
Business developer: You're the connector, the one who brings partnerships to life. Your role is crucial in scaling any Web3 project.
UX/UI designer: Design is universal. Your skills can make a Web3 platform not just functional but also enjoyable to use.
P.S.: These roles aren't job listings… yet. But who knows what the future holds? Keep your eyes peeled; you might just see something pop up soon. 👀
Use case & Actionable guide: Rabbit Hole

PICKING MY BRAIN:
AI and Education - Where do we draw the line?
Since we're on the topic of education, let’s talk about its interaction with tech, specifically, with AI.
AI's been shaking up the scene in various fields, including education. Take ChatGPT, for example. This AI model has demonstrated its prowess by passing the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) with a 60% accuracy rate, without any prior training*.
We're not just talking about multiple-choice questions here; the model was evaluated on its clinical reasoning abilities. Imagine the potential of integrating such AI into medical education, not just as a tool but as a supplement to human expertise.
This might be seen as a double-edged sword, though. On one hand, AI can be a powerful tool for educators, but on the other, there's the risk of students becoming too dependent on it.
My 2 cents?
It's all about balance. Just like in the Web3 universe, where we're always fine-tuning our approach, the educational system needs to find a way to integrate AI responsibly. It's not about creating a dependency; it's about leveraging AI as a tool to enhance learning and empower educators.
So, what's your stance on this? Are we on the right track or playing with fire? I’d love to know what you think:
What's your take on AI in the classroom? |
This is a complex discussion, and experts in the field are deep into research and investigation. So if you've got some insights or opinions, don't hold back - reach out and let's keep this conversation going.

Speaking of Education…
Zeneca was one of the very first people I followed over 2 years ago when I entered the Web3 space. His content is extraordinary, and I cannot recommend it enough.
To make things even better, he just moved his newsletter to Beehiiv, so go check it out and give it a subscribe.

Before we close the book on this edition, let's circle back to the essence of it all: Education. You see, education isn't just about textbooks and classrooms; it's the cornerstone of our future, especially in the Web3 universe. It's the key that unlocks doors, breaks down barriers, and empowers us to shape the world we want to live in. And guess what? We're all students and teachers in this decentralized classroom. Whether it's through a Masterclass, a tweet, or a deep dive into RabbitHole, every interaction is a lesson, every experience a chapter in our collective story.
Stoked you joined me for this ride. Let's keep making noise in Web3. Until next time! 🤙
