Images, texts, videos…
And MUCH more
The pace of innovation in artificial intelligence has been nothing short of remarkable.
It seems that every day new applications, websites, and products are launched and/or upgraded, pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve - even for the regular user.
The most famous applications are often focused on creating images and texts, enhancing videos, lip-syncing, and other “normal” stuff. It’s undeniable that these platforms are revolutionizing creative industries, offering new possibilities for artistic expression and media production - and bringing together a discussion on artists having their creations used to “train” said products.
“guy wearing a pink beanie and black hoodie, seen from the back, writing a newsletter” 😅
I mean, it’s easy to understand why tools like MidJourney, ChatGPT, Leonard, and others have become so popular, right?
Regardless of the user’s “tech” knowledge, they are a few clicks away from creating pretty much any kind of content, from a new logo for their shop to a presentation about pink beanies.
(The image above took me about 1 minute to create - from opening the tool’s website, typing in the prompt, and waiting for the free plan to “run”)
We can argue about the quality of the final product - especially when it comes to texts and its sources, but we can not say a lot has changed in the past 2 years when it comes to how people face and deal with AI tools.
Yet, while these applications hit the headlines, another side of AI is quietly evolving with immense potential - AI agents.
Back in edition #13, I briefly talked about this when discussing possible intersections between AI and Blockchain, and shortly after, I took the discussion to my LinkedIn.
One of the comments was made by Polina:
I completely agree with what she said. Just think about it: you may be familiar with names like ChatGPT - and probably you have friends and colleagues who also share this knowledge.
However, if we think about the general population, there’s still a lot of room to cover. There are still A LOT of people that never heard or touched these tools.
So I believe it’s safe to say that an even smaller group has heard about AI Agents. And that’s what we are covering today.
“Cool, but what are AI Agents?”
“An artificial intelligence (AI) agent refers to a system or program that is capable of autonomously performing tasks on behalf of a user or another system by designing its workflow and utilizing available tools”
In other words, we could say that AI agents are sophisticated software programs capable of performing tasks autonomously based on user instructions, data inputs, and contextual understanding.
And unlike traditional systems that follow fixed rules, AI agents leverage machine learning and natural language processing to continuously improve their decision-making and communication skills (and this highlighted part is very important).
They can act as autonomous entities, capable of solving problems, automating tasks, and recommending solutions without constant human intervention.
For instance, a customer service AI agent might automatically address customer queries, research information, and provide solutions based on the context of the interaction. These agents learn from their experiences, enhancing their effectiveness over time by refining their actions and responses based on previous data and outcomes.
NO, they are not a magic solution, and - as you can imagine - there’s a lot of room for improvement.
But seeing how fast AI stuff is evolving, we’ll certainly hear more and more about these agents.
Not just a chat-bot:
Real-world applications of AI Agents
“Got it. So these are basically glorified chat-bots, right?”
😁
Well, one of the uses for AI agents is indeed optimizing things like Customer Support, but they can have impact across various industries by offering innovative solutions to common challenges.
Still in the customer service discussion, AI agents enhance the quality of interactions by utilizing natural language processing to understand and respond to customer needs effectively. They have the potential to anticipate issues before they arise, fostering deeper customer relationships and boosting satisfaction.
“But Diego, not long ago I saw this compilation of absurd responses given by these chat-bots”
I see you. But if we compare the images/videos/solutions AI tools were giving us 2 years ago with what we have now, the results are veeeerrrrrrryyyy different, right?
As a wise person once said: “Let’em cook!”
→ Retail and hospitality sectors benefit from AI agents by receiving highly personalized recommendations. These agents analyze customer data, such as preferences and purchase history, to offer tailored product or service suggestions.
→ Market research can also see a transformation with AI agents. They gather and analyze customer data from multiple sources, providing businesses with valuable insights into consumer behavior and market trends. This enables companies to refine their strategies, understand shifting preferences, and stay ahead of competitors.
→ In sales and marketing, AI agents can automate lead generation and nurturing processes, enhancing efficiency. They monitor interactions, identify potential leads, and tailor outreach strategies to maximize conversion rates.
→ In finance and accounting, AI agents can automate routine tasks such as data entry and invoice processing. This reduces errors and accelerates workflows, allowing professionals to focus on more strategic activities.
And there are of course multiple other use cases, but the point here is that - yes, creating images and texts is cool, but we can go much further when it comes to AI-powered solutions and products.
Want to see a cool example?
If you access this link, you’ll be able to interact with James, a digital brand ambassador for NVIDIA.
You can engage with James in real time and learn more about the company’s products.
Sure, it’s not a perfect solution, but it’s certainly a very interesting way of interacting with visitors and customers.

As I often say, you helped me build this, so I want to give you back.
In this section, I’ll answer questions and discuss ideas sent by you - even some old ones (yes, I keep track of them 😅)
“Creativity and exploration”
Same page, Miodrag!
Considering how fast things are evolving, I can only imagine all the cool things we’ll see in 1 or 2 years - both for users and brands.
“Future yet to be explored”
I have probably said this a million times, but here it goes: “We are still early”.
Regardless of all the cool things already available (or being built), there’s still some time before we can truly say that the concept of “AI agents” has gone mainstream.
(Which means there’s time to position yourself accordingly and find the best opportunities 😎 )
“Can’t wait to see how these AI characters evolve”
It truly is, Bren.
A lot is going on already, but it’s exciting to think about where this whole discussion will be in the next few years.
It’s already happening
Are AI agents the thing that will change the world?
Unfortunately, I can’t predict the future.
But what I do know is that it’s already a considerable market.
According to Markets and Markets, the global Autonomous AI and Autonomous Agents market is expected to be worth around ~28 billion dollars in 2028.
On top of that, a couple of months ago, NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang said this:
“Everybody will have an AI assistant.
Every single company, every single job within the company, will have AI assistance”
You may argue that he’s super biased as the company he founded is one of the most interested in seeing this industry boom (they basically sell the hardware for this to happen).
But if you start digging into what’s going on in this field, there are a lot of factors that back up his vision.
Today, we have only started the discussion around AI Agents here in The Wild West of Web3 - and we’ll certainly expand on that pretty soon.
Until then: What do YOU think/know about AI agents?
How would you rate this edition of The Wild West of Web3? |
See you soon.
